If you love the Chataqua or always wanted to give it a try, come join us for a quick bike ride in the Wild West. We are looking for a few brave souls to join us on November 20 for the 28th El Tour De Tucson. El Tour is a fun ride attracting over 9,000 cyclists of all ages and abilities from throughout the United States and beyond, consisting of novice, intermediate, advanced and professional riders. In 2001, Southwest Airlines’ in-flight magazine, Spirit, named El Tour de Tucson “one of the premier organized rides in United States,” and in 2002 Bicycling Magazine ranked El Tour as “one of the top three fundraising rides” in the country.
To accept this challenge, go to Perimeter Bicycling Association of America’s Web site to register. Participants may cycle 109, 80, 66 or 35 miles, open to all abilities. Main routes expose participants to scenic areas of Tucson, with beautiful vistas of its local mountain ranges. We are asking you to then pledge $1,000 to The Club Foundation - raising money from others to support this pledge. You can either ask folks to pledge dollars per mile or a flat fee in support of your goal. Click here for a copy of the pledge form.
Jesse Thorpe, CCM, general manager, Skyline Country Club, has agreed to help organize a reception for those who dare to complete this course. In addition, Dick Kopplin and Kurt Kuebler, CCM, have generously offered to help fund our team jerseys that will read “TEAM CLUB FOUNDATION – fueled by Kopplin and Kuebler, LLC.”
If you enjoy bike riding and traveling to someplace warm in the late fall this is the event for you. Riders are responsible for registering themselves for the event here and for their own expenses. We hope to see you in November!
