2015 wine auctions

The 2015 Wine Auctions will be held in conjunction with the 88th World Conference and Club Business Expo in San Antonio, TX, March 8-12, 2015. The Wine Auctions have risen over $500,000 with all proceeds going to The Club Foundation.

Conference attendees will notice that this year’s auction will be very different. In an effort to streamline the auction process, the CF and Annual Wine Auctions will move from paper and pencil to an online platform. To help us with this transition, we’ve employed the experts at GiveSmart, a silent auction technology company.
 
Bidders will be able to preregister for the auction before landing in San Antonio, TX. Those that forget will be able to register on site with the swipe of their credit card. Bidding will improve as individuals can bid and set max bids using their smartphone regardless of their location at the Conference. Don’t have a smartphone? On-site mobile kiosks will be set up for your convenience or you can bid by texting. Checkout will also improve as you can pay your bill as soon as the auction closes. Just don’t forget to pick-up your winning lots on Thursday, March 12.

All donations should be shipped by Thursday, February 19, 2015 and have the value of at least $25 per bottle and $500 in wholesale value to be eligible for reimbursement by The Club Foundation.
 
Requests for reimbursement must be submitted no later than Wednesday, April 1, 2015 to CMAA National Headquarters by one individual from each chapter. Please use the Auction Shipping Reimbursement Form to submit your request with a receipt for all shipping and supply charges.

On-site donations may be dropped off in the Member Services Pavilion starting Sunday, March 8. On-site donations must be submitted via the Auction Donation Form prior to being dropped-off. The online Donation Form helps the Wine Society determine the Bucky winner annually. Failure to complete and include the Auction Donation Form with your donation may prevent your chapter from winning the Bucky Award.

The Bucky Award Criteria
There are two traveling Bucky trophies, the Per Capita Bucky and the Overall Bucky. The Per Capita Bucky is given to the chapter with the highest average donation amount per chapter member and the Overall Bucky is given to the chapter that donates the most wine by wholesale value to the auctions.
 
The wine auctions have sparked a healthy competition among the chapters to donate the most wine. CMAA chapters compete for the coveted traveling Bucky trophy, which was donated by the Wisconsin Badger Chapter.
 
When chapters submit their donations, they must include an inventory list which has the wholesale value for each bottle. The numbers they provide are used to calculate the total donation value. The chapter with the highest wholesale value of wine donated to the auctions will win the Overall Bucky. The wholesale value will also be divided by the number of chapter members (provided by CMAA’s Membership Department) to calculate the Per Capita Bucky winner. Additionally, The Club Foundation has once again graciously agreed to award a $2,000 education grant with each Bucky Award.

The Golden State Chapter donated over $24,000 worth of wine winning them the Overall Bucky and the Central Pennsylvania Chapter donated over $76 per chapter member to win the Per Capita Bucky.
