| VALERIE PRICE RECIPIENT OF THE CLUB FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP | Alexandria.
VA - August 8, 2003 |
|
| The
Club Foundation is delighted to announce that Ms. Price is a recipient
of a $2,500 student scholarship for the 2003-2004 academic year.
The Club Foundation awards student scholarships annually to those
individuals actively pursuing a managerial career in the private
club industry. Scholarship recipients are selected by The Club Foundation
Allocation Committee (CFAC) and subsequently approved by its Board
of Governors.
Valerie Price, a senior attending Florida State University, is majoring in Hospitality Administration. Price is an active member of the university's CMAA student chapter and was elected as its 2003-2004 President. In addition to her student chapter activities, Price volunteers her time as a Note Taker & Managerial Accounting Tutor with the Student Disabilities Resource Center and serves as a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Upon graduation, Price intends to work at a yacht club starting in the position of food & beverage manager and eventually becoming a general manager. While working, she will also pursue her Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation, which she hopes to attain within four years. Her ultimate goal is to own and operate a non-equity boat and yacht club that focuses on (more) young families. The Club Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, was established by CMAA in 1988. Its mission is to raise funds to financially support the professional development of club managers through education, training and research initiatives. |
