THOMAS BRINSON RECIPIENT OF THE CLUB FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

The Club Foundation is delighted to announce that Mr. Thomas Brinson is a recipient of a $2,500 student scholarship for the 2003-2004 academic year. The Club Foundation awards student scholarships annually to those individuals actively pursuing a managerial career in the private club industry. Scholarship recipients are selected by The Club Foundation Allocation Committee (CFAC) and subsequently approved by its Board of Governors.

Thomas Brinson, a senior attending Florida State University, is majoring in Professional Golf Management/Hospitality Administration. Brinson was elected as the 2003-2004 president of the university's CMAA student chapter, a position he also held in 2002-2003. Additionally, Brinson served as the Activities Director for the Professional Golf Management Club from April 2001-April 2003 and as the Deputy Secretary of Athletic Affairs for the Student Government Association. His most notable accomplishment involves the establishment of the Dedman School of Hospitality's Inter Organizational Committee as well as holding the position of chairman.

Brinson has received many awards including earning his Eagle Scout, receiving a Robert H. Dedman, Sr. Scholarship and being J. Williard Marriott Memorial Scholar. He also (more) participated in two church sponsored mission trips ‚ one to Granada, Mexico, in 2001 and the other to Mandeville, Jamaica in 1998. Furthermore, he is an Aware Records Representative for Tallahassee, FL, and a member of the Weekend Excursion Promotion Team.

Brinson is extremely interested golf and hopes to become the general manager of a golf club, country club or athletic club. His ultimate goals include attaining the PGA certification and the Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation.

The Club Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, was established by CMAA in 1988. Its mission is to raise funds to financially support the professional development of club managers through education, training and research initiatives.
