ALEXANDRIA, VA ­ June 18, 2001

The Club Foundation is pleased to announce the selection of Meghan Mueller, Alison Johnson and John Marotta as its 2001 Club Foundation Scholarship recipients. Each has received a $2,500 scholarship for the 2001-2002 academic year. Scholarships are awarded annually to students pursuing careers in private club management.

Meghan Mueller, a junior at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, is majoring in Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration with a minor in Spanish. An active member of the university's student chapter of the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), Mueller is currently an assistant student manager at the University Club in Amherst, MA.

Allison Johnson is a senior at Purdue University majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management with a minor in Hospitality Finance. Johnson serves as president of the Purdue University student chapter of CMAA and has completed and internship at the Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest, IL.

John Marotta is a junior at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst majoring in Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration. Marotta is an active member of the university's student chapter of CMAA and has completed an internship at the Hartford Golf Club in Hartford, CT.

The Club Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, was established by CMAA in 1988. Its mission is to raise funds to financially support the professional development of club managers through education, training and research initiatives. It recently created a $3 million endowment, which enables it to make awards annually to fulfill that mission. Additionally, it has, since inception, awarded more than $400,000 through its Scholarship and Grant Program in the form of individual scholarships to students and grants to the CMAA student chapters on 31 university campuses nationally.
