Chairman:
George P. Carroll, CCM
A Past President
of CMAA, Carroll has been a member of CMAA
since 1979. He has served on the CMAA Board
of Directors from 1988 to 1997. He also
served on CMAA's Executive Committee as
Secretary-Treasurer in 1994, Vice President
in 1995, and National President in 1996.
Carroll has served on several committees
including the Conference Planning Task Force,
the Strategic Planning Committee and the
Premier Club Services Committee. He is also
a member of the Honor Society. Carroll is
the General Manager of Interlachen Country
Club in Edina, Minnesota.
Vice Chairman: Jay DiPietro, CCM
A member of CMAA for 24 years, he was awarded
the Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation
in 1989. He served on the CMAA National
Board of Directors from 1990 to 1994 and
has also served on numerous Florida Chapter
CMAA committees. He was Club Management
Magazine's 1998 Club Manager of the Year.
Secretary: John R. "Jack" Sullivan,
Jr., CCM
Jack Sullivan has been a member of CMAA
for more than 24 years. He graduated cum
laude in 1971 from Parsons College with
a B.A. in Psychology and Business and continued
with graduate studies at the University
of Iowa. He has been the General Manager
of Grosse Pointe Yacht Club in Grosse Pointe
Shores, Michigan since 1987. Sullivan has
been an active member of CMAA since joining
in 1977. He was a National Director from
1985-1993 and National President in 1992.
He was also a Director within the Detroit
Chapter from 1996-1997. Sullivan was a co-founder
of the International Wine Society and has
been a member since 1987. He has been a
guest lecturer for CMAA workshops, Michigan
State University, and the University of
Houston. Sulllivan received his CCM designation
in 1982 and became a member of the Honor
Society in 1990. He has served as a club
industry liaison to the Board of the National
Restaurant Association since 1996. Also
active in his community, he is a member
and past President of the Rotary Club of
Grosse Point, a member of the Detroit Chamber
of Commerce, a Grosse Point Power Squadron
member, a coach and voulnteer for the Grosse
Pointe Soccer and Sailing Programs and an
advisor for the Grosse Point Youth Summit.
Treasurer: Thomas Sargeant
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), he
is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
of AvalonBay Communities, Inc., a national
leading real estate investment trusts (REIT),
where he is responsible for all of the financial
operations of the company, including capital
markets/finance, financial reporting and
financial services, as well as information
technology.
President: Jim Singerling, CCM, CEC
Jim Singerling has been the Executive Vice
President/Chief Executive Officer of CMAA
since 1990. Prior to this appointment he
was a corporate official in the Robert Trent
Jones, Sr., golf course design and management
companies and he served as Vice President
and General Manager of the Coral Ridge Country
Club in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Singerling
has been a member of CMAA for more than
21 years and has enjoyed an outstanding
39-year career in the hospitality industry.
He is a certified Executive Chef with the
American Culinary Federation (ACF), and
a Certified Club Manager with CMAA. Singerling
served as President of the Team USA Culinary
Foundation from 1992-1996. In 1998, Singerling
was honored as the Industry Leader of the
Year by the Tourism and Convention Department
at UNLV. He has also accepted a nomination
to serve on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Association Committee of 100, the country's
most prestigious group of chief staff executives. |

Lawerence
Bernhardt
Lawrence Bernhardt is the former Chairman
of the Board of Governors at the Boca West
Country Club, he has also served on the
Board of Governors of the Ardsley Country
Club. Bernhardt received his B.S. from the
University of Oklahoma and a M.B.A. from
the University of Buffalo. He is a Certified
Public Accountant in New York State. He
was President and CEO of Hilti, Inc., and
has been an adjunct professor of Management
at Florida Atlantic University. He is a
member of numerous Boards of Directors at
public companies and a member of the Board
of many charitable and cultural organizations,
including the Boca Raton Museum and the
Clearview School in New York. Additionally,
he has held numerous government appointments,
including a presidential appointment to
the National United Nations Day Committee.
John L. Garrison, Jr.
Mr. Garrison, president of E-Z-Go Textron,
Inc. joined The Club Foundation Board of
Governors in 2002. Mr. Garrison has 20 years
of managerial and operating experience and
previously worked at Azurix Corporation
where he was chairman, president and CEO.
In addition, his career includes serving
as vice president and general manager of
Case Corporation's North American Agricultural
Group and vice president and general maanger
for Case's Agricultural Systems Group. Mr.
Garrison received a BS in Engineering from
the United States Military Academy, as well
as an MBA fro Harvard University.
James R. Kleeblatt
James R. Kleeblatt is Managing Director
of Friedman Billings Ramsey & Co., an internationally
recognized investment management firm.
Richard Kolasa
Richard Kolasa, CCM, has been a member of
CMAA since 1968 and served as its President
in 1993. He is an Honor Society member and
has held positions on numerous CMAA committees,
including serving as Chairman of the Magazine
Committee. Kolasa became a National Director
in 1987 and has held several positions on
the CMAA chapter level, including Secretary
of the Mid-America Chapter and President
of the Arizona-Nevada Chapter. He has been
the General Manager of Skyline Country Club
for over 20 years. Kolasa graduated from
Michigan State University's School of Hotel,
Restaurant and Institution Management and
was named their Alumnus of the Year in 1992.
He has been a guest lecturer at the University
of Nevada, Las Vegas and has been involved
with the American Wine & Food Society, the
Southern Arizona Restaurant Association
and the National Restaurant Association.
Kolasa's community involvements have included
the Tucson Symphony Association, the Tucson
Desert Museum and the Tucson Museum of Art.
Michael Leemhuis, CCM
A member of CMAA for eight years, Leemhuis
achieved the CCM designation in 1999.. Currently,
the Chief Operating Officer and General
Manager of Congressional Country Club, he
was previously the General Manager for TPC
at Avenel, as well as at Sun City in Cape
Town, South Africa. Leemhuis' CMAA activities
include: membership in the International
Wine Society; serving as a National Capital
Chapter Officer; a featured speaker on golf
operations at BMI III; and serving as a
member of the International Development
Task Force.
Joe Perdue, CCM, CHE
Joe Purdue is a past club manager and has
been a member of CMAA since 1981. He has
been responsible for CMAA's Business Management
Institute (BMI) since its inception in 1986.
Perdue currently serves on the faculty of
the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration
at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas,
where he teaches club management. He has
held the position of Staff Vice President
at CMAA, responsible for Education and Certification
programs. He has previously served as a
faculty member at Georgia State University,
the University of Tennessee and as an adjunct
faculty member at Auburn University. He
is the author and editor of Contemporary
Club Management and co-author of A Club
Manager's Guide to Private Parties and Club
Functions. Perdue's honors include membership
in The Honor Society Phi Kappa Phi, recognition
for Distinguished Contributions to the Profession
and Mission of Human Sciences at Auburn
University and Professor of the Year in
the School of Hospitality Administration
at Georgia State University. He currently
serves as a member of the Accreditation
Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration
(ACPHA).
Philip J. Tralies
Philip J. Tralies, President and CEO of
Club Car, Inc. was elected to the Board
of Governors in 2002. Mr. Tralies career
spans 21 years with Textron, Inc., the first
14 of which were in the company's E-Z-GO
golf division, where he ascended to the
position of senior vice president. He then
spent seven years as president of Textron's
Turf Care and Specialty Products division
for the Americas. Tralies has since retire
from Textron and is now the president and
CEO of Club Car, Inc., which provides golf
cars, transportation and utility vehicle
solutions for golf, agricultural, recreational
and industrial markets. He describes Club
Car as a company with a tradition and a
culture for innovation and service in its
products and attitudes. |

Kenneth
W. Brown, CCM
A Past Chairman of The Club Foundation,
Brown has been a member of CMAA since 1966.
He is President of Brown Management, Inc.,
owner and operator of private clubs and
golf courses in Illinois and Indiana and
restaurants in Florida. He was Executive
Vice President of the Indianapolis Athletic
club for 16 years. An Honor Society member,
Brown has held many CMAA offices on both
the chapter and national levels, including
acting as CMAA Treasurer for two years and
CMAA President in 1990. Brown attended Northwestern
University, and is an active member of several
community organizations, including the Citizens
Speedway Committee in Indianapolis, as well
as clubs such as the Indianapolis Athletic
Club and the American Business Club.
Robert Don
Mr. Don is Chairman of the Board and Chief
Executive Officer of Edward Don & Company,
an exhibitor at CMAA shows for more than
14 years. He received his B.S. degree in
Finance from the University of Colorado
and his Juris Doctor Degree from the University
of Chicago Law School. Don is a member of
several Boards of Directors, including the
Chicago Chapter of the American Institute
of Wine & Food, the Chicago Fund on Aging
and Disability and Kendall College.
George Gasser
George Gasser, an Associate member of CMAA,
is the Chief Executive Officer of the Gasser
Chair Company, Inc., a company he founded
in 1946 as part owner. He has been a vendor
participant at the CMAA exhibitions every
year since 1978. An active community member,
Gasser serves on the Boards of the Youngstown
Club, the Mills Foundation and the Youngstown
State University Board of the Hospitality
School of Education and also serves on the
Board of Advisors of IGBE.
G. Mead Grady, CCM
As a past Chairman of The Club Foundation,
it was under the leadership of Mead Grady
that the Campaign for Excellence
was designed and launched. A member of CMAA
since 1956, Grady has held many offices
on both the chapter and national levels.
He is a member of the Honor Society and
has chaired numerous national committees
including the Club Management Institute,
Certification and Scholarship committees.
Grady was CMAA National President in 1988.
He has also been affiliated with the International
Wine and Food Society and other community
activities. He serves on the Georgia State
University Advisory Board, is an instructor
for the BMI II course and is a guest lecturer
at Georgia State University. Grady is General
Manager of Peachtree Golf Club in Atlanta,
Georgia.
Laurice T. "Bud" Hall, MCM
A member of CMAA since 1954, Bud Hall has
held every office at both the chapter and
national levels leading up to his term as
CMAA National President in 1972. He is an
Honor Society member, and was the 1985 Club
Manager of the Year. He attended his 48th
consecutive CMAA Conference in 2001. In
1996, Hall completed his monograph and was
awarded the MCM designation. A graduate
of the University of Denver and the graduate
program at Michigan State University, he
was Director and General Manager of Pinehurst
Country Club for 38 years. An active member
of his community, his affiliations include
the United Way and Boy Scouts of America.
He has been a guest speaker for the Golf
Course Superintendents Association, Professional
Golfers Association and Military Club Managers
Association. Hall's awards are extensive,
including Michigan State University Alumnus
of the Year, the University of Denver Alumnus
of the Year, the Colorado Chefs de Cuisine
Association Man of the Year and the Colorado-Wyoming
Restaurant Association Distinguished Service
Award.
A. Graham McDeson, MCM
Graham McDeson, the General Manager of Carmel
Country Club, was elected to the Board of
Governors in 1997. A member of CMAA for
33 years, he has held numerous elected positions
within the Carolinas Chapter, including
serving on the Board of Directors. The awards
bestowed upon McDeson from CMAA have included
the Certified Club Manager (CCM) in 1977,
Honor Society membership in 1987 and the
Master Club Manager (MCM) designation in
1995. McDeson is one of only ten recipients
of the very prestigious MCM designation.
Since 1993, McDeson has played a key role
in The Club Foundation's Campaign for Excellence,
as Vice Chairman for Corporate Fundraising,
and then as Chairman of the "Final
Phase" committee.
W. R. "Red" Steger, CCM
The immediate past Chairman of The Club
Foundation, Red Steger has been a member
of CMAA since 1950 and has served on numerous
CMAA committees, including the Certification
and Long Range Planning Committees. In addition
to being a member of the honor society,
he has held many chapter and national offices.
He served as President of his chapter both
in 1958 and 1973 and National President
in 1987. Mr. Steger has been affiliated
with the Texas Restaurant Association, Confrerie
de la Chaine des Rotisseurs, the International
Wine & Food Society and the Knights of the
Vine. His community affiliations include
the Houston Rotary Club and the United Fund.
Mr. Steger has been a frequent lecturer
at the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton
College of Hotel and Restaurant Management
and has authored numerous articles for Club
Management magazine and other trade journals.
He was General Manager of River Oaks Country
Club for 29 years. Mr. Steger now provides
club management consultation.
L. T. Walden, Jr.
L.T. Walden, President of E-Z-Go Textron,
one of the world's leading manufacturers
of golf cars and utility vehicles, joined
the Board of Governors in 1997. A resident
of Augusta, Georgia, Walden joined E-Z-Go
in 1962, where he held various sales, service,
marketing and distribution positions. In
1984, he was named Vice President of Customer
Service; in 1989, Executive Vice President;
and in 1990, Acting General Manager. Walden
assumed the position of President of E-Z-Go
in 1991. His other professional affiliations
include serving as President of the National
Golf Car Manufacturers Association; as Executive
Vice President of the Boys Club of Augusta
Board of Directors; and on the Boards of
both the University Health Care Foundation
and the Augusta Technical Institute Foundation.
Walden is a graduate of the Harvard Business
School Advanced Management Program and has
also completed several Textron management programs.
