Another Willmoore H. Kendall Scholar Earns the CCM Designation

Congratulations to Ms. Caroline Sitzer, CCM the second person to successfully complete the Willmoore H. Kendall Scholarship program. Ms. Sitzer was a 2003 Willmoore H. Kendall Scholarship recipient and successfully passes the CCM exam in November 2004.

Ms. Sitzer graduated from Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, NC, with a B.S. in Hospitality Management in 1998.  She began her hospitality career, while attending college, at Wildcat Cliffs Country Club in Highlands, NC.  Upon graduation, she went to work for Old Town Club, Winston-Salem, NC as Service Manager.  During her tenure at this club, Ms. Sitzer was introduced to CMAA and had the opportunity to become a member.

The 2002 year was an extremely busy one for Ms. Sitzer.  In the Spring, she was promoted to Assistant Clubhouse Manager and then in the Fall she was once again promoted to Clubhouse Manager.  Also during this timeframe, Ms. Sitzer became an active participant within the Carolinas’ chapter joining both the Committee for Carolinas Chapter Trade Show Fund Raiser and the Committee for The Club Foundation.  In addition to all these activities, Ms. Sitzer somehow found time to attend BMI II & BMI III held at Cal-Poly Pomona and Michigan State University, respectively.

In October 2004, Ms. Sitzer embraced a new challenge and accepted a position as Clubhouse Manager for The Point Lake and Golf Club, Mooresville, NC.  Along with her change in employment, Ms. Sitzer also married her husband, Mark, and they are expecting their first child in June of 2005.  The Club Foundation wishes her well as she accepts the new challenge where she currently continues to work.

The Willmoore H. Kendall Scholarship Fund was established in memory of CMAA Past President Mr. Bill Kendall.  The purpose of this scholarship is to provide tuition support to assistant club managers interested in pursuing the Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation.  The Club Foundation is greatly honored to be the steward of Mr. Kendall’s vision by awarding this scholarship to deserving and dedicated CMAA members like Ms. Caroline Sitzer, CCM.
