Chairman's Report
My second year as Chairman of The Club Foundation
expanded upon the momentum generated in 2005. Considerable
strides towards reaching our long term goals have been made this
year with the addition of the Corporation Advantage Program and the
continued success of the National Club Championship. Furthermore,
our Scholarship and Grant Program continues to expand and grow with
the industry as we fund an increasing number of educational initiatives
that enhance the club management profession.
Created to capitalize on the strong relationship
between The Club Foundation and CMAA, the Corporate Advantage Program
was introduced in 2006 as a new fundraising vehicle. This program
offers fifteen (15) select companies the exclusive opportunity to
partner with The Club Foundation and CMAA. Through CAP, several long-standing
partners have stepped forward once again to make significant contributions
to TheCampaign to Promote Excellence...Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. A
customized package of promotional and philanthropic assets offers
these companies the chance to better articulate their respective
messages to the CMAA membership while giving them an opportunity
to give back to the industry. This ensures that our commitment to
provide the highest quality education possible will continue long
into the future.
In addition, the fourth annual National Club Championship
(NCC) was a great success, as club champions from around the world
competed on four separate world-class courses at The Woodlands in
Houston,Texas. Mr. Doug Green, from Atlanta Athletic Club in Atlanta,
Georgia, was the top finisher and granted the title of National Club
Champion for 2006. Furthermore, as a result of our success
with this event in 2005, Cadillac joined as the title sponsor for
the 2006 tournament. We are truly excited about the addition of Cadillac
and feel that their esteemed reputation is a perfect match for this
prestigious golf tournament.
We are also truly grateful to the individuals,
companies, Chapters and organizations that have shown their support
to The Club Foundation. Thanks to the generosity of our donors,
the Foundation is able to support a multitude of existing educational
programs and the development of new initiatives focused on the club
industry. As the industry continues to evolve, the development of
high quality continuing education is essential to providing the best
tools available to our current and future industry leaders. Therefore,
new Business Management Institutes (such as?) have been developed
to better prepare CMAA members for the growing needs of club members
as a result of funds from your Foundation. In addition, we were able
to award six student scholarships, four manager scholarships, two
faculty internships, and several faculty research grants this year. All
of these commitments are made possible by your support of The Club
Foundation.
I look forward to our growing success in 2007
and thank you for your continued support .
